Reserved bed not on train, no full refund, no complaints process

It makes me so sad to write this - sleeper trains should be known as a great way to travel instead of flying. We had reservations for couchettes on the Vienna-Brussels sleeper, but the designated carriage wasn't on the train. Yes, seriously. The unhelpful guard said to go to the ticket office for a refund (not an option 10mins before departure!) or find a seat for the night. I've eventually (weeks later) had a 50% refund but OBB refuse to give any more, with no complaints procedure. I do hope they get their act together soon.

OBB Nightjet from Amsterdam to Zurich

We took the OBB Nightjet sleepr car from Amsterdam to Zurich in September 2023 and it was a terrible experience. It was 90 degrees (30C) in Amsterdam and our car had no working air conditioning. We sweated thru the night and barely slept. The top bunk was unbearable for sleeping. Further none of the WCs worked in the first 2 cars and the nearest one that did work had no soap or paper towels. The trains are not well maintained. I would not recommend.

If I could rate with -5

If I could rate with -5, I would, Nigh Jet, 1 hour late, after that, two people got stuck in a cabin, we tried to help them, there was no crew to be found, no hotline available till 6 am, I call at 6 am, the call support agent couldn't reach anyone, there is no such thing as panic button or emergency button, to contact someone, we strayed with the couple to offer comfort in the situation, they were panicked, I search the train multiple times hopping to find someone.. after 1 hour we told them we're going to take our seats and keep trying to reach the öbb crew. As we got to our seats, well surprise, someone just occupied them, and didn't want to move, I specifically booked those seats. " the train is not full, go search for other seats", that was the reply I get after saying nicely, "hello you're sitting in our seats". After a while I get a call from the call support agent from obb, still didn't reach anyone, I was put on hold, and after 10 minutes, one of the couple came thanking us for our help, in the end someone from the crew passed by, (by chance) and opened the door. How is it possible not to reach the crew? How is it possible not to have a emergency button to reach the crew as a passenger in distress?! How is it possible to choose your seat and not be able to sit there because someone takes them and refuses to move. After the door was unblocked, the support agent called to inform me, that they reached a crew member, and help is on the way...these people were stuck in a cabin since we took the train, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes for the agent to reach a crew member...imagine being locked in a small cabin, people passing by, not stopping or stopping for a moment to assure you that they'll get help and leave, and imagine not speaking the language... it's a scary feeling. They were grateful that we stopped and stayed with them, trying to open the door, and call ÖBB.Horrible experience, people with no empathy, education and lack of responsibility.

No automatic seat allocation

When buying a ticket, which btw is already pricey compared to other European countries, there is no seat allocation! An extra fee is charged for a seat number. Some passengers have seats and some don’t which results in constant upheaval and movement in the carriages. I mean it’s logical that a passenger needs a seat when traveling on the train so why isn’t it automatically allocated ? Very badly organized and poor service. The ÖBB Management team should learn from other companies such as RENFE train in Spain where the service is excellent!!!

Horrible service

Horrible service, even worse connection. They are not even waiting on you when your running for your life to get the train. It’s just 100% lacking in all, back to the car that is. Caring about the earth has its limits!
