I’ve been using Tuta Mail for my business and it’s great. I particularly like the calendar, which we can use as Shared Calendars across teams. Contacts get synced to mobile, which is very convenient. Overall, I highly recommend Tuta for businesses, especially now with digital sovereignty being so important.
I am using Tuta with a custom domain, and everything has gone smoothly. A DNS glitch happened initially (nothing to do with Tuta) which had to do with new DNS information propagating through the DNS system, and Tuta supported me by checking the validity of my DNS settings. I am very happy with Tuta.
My experience with Tuta has been extremely disappointing. My entire PAID account was suddenly suspended after sending few legitimate email — a simple press release sent to about ten established editorial contacts via BCC. This was not spam, not bulk messaging, and not malicious activity of any kind.What is even more unacceptable is that by blocking the whole account, Tuta also blocked all my other legitimate emails, including important correspondence completely unrelated to the situation. In 2026, when you trust an email provider with your communication, you expect your inbox to be protected above all else. A responsible service should isolate potential issues — not shut down the entire account and deny access to everything.This behavior is disproportionate, unprofessional, and shows a worrying lack of understanding of how critical email is today.It is also ironic that a company promoting itself as privacy-focused and secure ends up behaving like any centralized provider: instantly cutting off access, offering no immediate explanation, and failing to reply to emails for days. Their customer support is extremely slow and unhelpful, and during the suspension there is no emergency channel to recover your messages or clarify the issue.On top of that, the interface feels outdated, unintuitive, and not suitable for professional communication.Overall, Tuta’s rigid automated rules, lack of proportionality, full-account blocking, and delayed support make the service completely unreliable. After this experience, I am leaving the platform and cannot recommend it to anyone.
Have used Tuta's free service for more than 10 years, encountering no major issue. One regarding delay of pushed messages on mobile was quickly solved by assistance.I find it easy to use and appreciate the privacy offered by the service's encryption.
(UPDATE)I contacted them through my old gmail-account. Surprisingly they got back to me in 24h. I had read online that response times are very slow if not contacted through your paying tutamail. That was positive.They've restored access to my account, and said it was something that "happened occasionally" to new accounts. Not really a good thing, especially if they know it's an issue.I will continue using it for the moment and see if it really can become my new main account.(ORIGINAL VERSION)I've recently moved to Tuta for e-mail and calendar so as to de-google. I was excited about getting my data away from Google and into a "safe European place".Sadly, I couldn't be more disappointed. The onboarding wasn't straightforward because my account was flagged for approval, most likely because I was using a VPN. Maybe that's good, because it's an extra safety feature, but it made the onboarding cumbersome.The main problem, though, happened when I decided to pay for the service. I paid with my credit card, got access to the full version and started moving my mails and calendar to Tuta.Then all of a sudden I got locked out of my account on all my devices. "You login credentials are wrong" is the simple message I got. This is not true. The credentials were correct. When I tried to enter using the recovery method, the same message appeared.In other words: I paid for a year's worth of e-mail and calendar, got immediately locked out and can't reach support, because you can access support only... through your Tutamail.The least they should do is cancel my account and refund me in full.It is unacceptable that such a crucial service as e-mail and calendar (which you need constantly) lock you out.
