We signed up for Westgate Timeshare in July 2021. I am a retired veteran who served for my country in wartime, and I cannot believe that Westgate Resorts would go through such great lengths to prey on vulnerable older adults. We cannot afford to pay a predatory company any longer and we stopped making payments. We have received little of nothing in return for this investment. We are demanding the termination of this contract on the grounds that they presented the product to us using deceitful methods, dishonesty, and high pressure. We traveled to Westgate Resort in Florida in July 2022, expecting to stay in one of the new units that they said was our address for the resort. It was shown to us during our first visit. Oh, how wrong we were. The unit we stayed in was DISGUSTING! We stayed on an older unit that has filthy floors and an unusual smell permeating throughout the hallways. On top of the horrific quality of the rooms, we were again, required to attend yet another meeting to sit down to discuss our contract. At this required meeting, they pressured us to purchase new larger units. We informed them that we are not staying in the new unit we're supposed to stay in. They were rude and indifferent about the complaints we had about our room, which just underscores how little this company cares about its paying customers! We strongly encourage EVERYONE to avoid Westgate Resorts at all costs! Sincerely, Kevin Chapman
During a trip to Las Vegas, I was coerced and deceived by two Westgate salespeople. They assured me that I was purchasing property, that I would own it outright after 10 years, that my grandson could live there while he was attending college, and that I could even use it to earn rental income. At no point did they inform me how this timeshare worked, and I am now experiencing financial hardship because of their lies and coercion. Comparing the costs of the timeshare vs. a hotel, they pitched us a number which I flat out refused. It was significantly higher than what I could afford, and I explained as much. They followed up by stating that this would still be cheaper eventually and would grant us access to fabulous locations around the world. When they lowered the number, I refused again. I remember asking if my grandson could live there while he was attending college, and they said yes. This was the key to convincing me to buy. If they had explained how frequently I would be able to use this contract (zero times) I obviously never would’ve moved forward with buying it. Unfortunately, that never happened though, and I was convinced my grandson could live there, which seemed like a dream come true. The length of the sales pitch was over 5 hours, and the time we spent reviewing paperwork was less than 30 minutes. I was never told that my maintenance fees would increase over time. I was never told that I could rescind this contract according to Nevada law. And I was never told about the stunning lack of availability. Instead of being provided with the information I needed, I was told a pack of lies. I was assured that I would own this outright and could live there–or have my grandson live there–after I had finished paying it off. This was crucial in my decision-making process, and if I learned that this wasn’t possible then I wouldn’t have agreed to sign. I feel ashamed that I got involved with this company, but to my credit I was conned. Shame on Westgate Resorts.
Our experience with Westgate in Las Vegas was beyond disappointing. Initially lured in by promises of freebies, we were coerced into a timeshare presentation that turned into hours of relentless sales pressure. Despite our objections, we were bombarded with false claims about the timeshare's benefits, including promises of rental income and future profits. In reality, we discovered that our children would be saddled with maintenance fees, mortgage payments, and attempts to book vacations yielded no availability. If you are at one of their presentations, DO NOT let them fool you into thinking you can rent the timeshare which will cover the annual costs. Also, their resorts ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE to their owners. It was a lesson in deceit and manipulation, and we regret ever engaging with Westgate's deceptive tactics. Beware of their slick sales pitches – they're nothing but smoke and mirrors.
I sent a letter to Westgate on July 17, but still no response. I guess they have nothing to say when someone calls them out for their fraudulent behavior. I have been a customer of theirs since 2000 and am finally disgusted with their behavior. Throughout the years there have been more upgrades and more scams. It is so sad to see the process of this company developing horrible and manipulative behaviors towards their customers. I am retired and on a fixed income and have already paid about $50,000 towards this timeshare. I cannot handle the financial burden from this and just need it to end. Please, respond to my letter Westgate, I look forward to hearing from you and being released from my contract. To everyone else reading this, consider it a warning and stay away from Westgate.
I urge anyone considering a timeshare with Westgate to stay far, far away. The level of dishonesty, manipulation, and outright deception employed by Westgate during the sales pitch was beyond appalling. I was offered a free weekend stay in Florida, contingent upon a 90-minute presentation. Little did I know that this 'brief' presentation would devolve into four hours. We repeatedly expressed disinterest, yet they persisted, making it clear that our 'no' meant nothing. We were subjected to false promises of exotic travel destinations and exclusive perks that turned out to be nothing but empty lies. The tactics used by the Westgate sales team were reminiscent of a shady used car dealership. We were assured that becoming Westgate members would save us money on travel, but hidden fees and charges made it significantly more expensive than booking independently. Their claims of the timeshare being an 'investment' were outright lies. The reality was a worthless timeshare that we couldn't even rent out to recoup our losses. The irregularities didn't end with the sales pitch. Westgate tampered with our financial information, forcing us to lie about the sale. During the closing process, details were withheld, and we were rushed through signing a contract worth tens of thousands of dollars. After six years of paying over $10,000 to Westgate, we have received none of the promised benefits. No ease of travel, no flexibility in stays, and certainly no return on investment!
I was misled by this beautiful resortI had stayed at one of the resorts in Florida with my family. We enjoyed what we saw so they wanted me to buy into one of the places so we took a tour. Everything was perfect. I signed the contract and I stated that the family will come back another time to enjoy the amenities Covid pulled up and things had to be changed, but they made me a reservation later and it was supposed to be the resort however at some point they end up giving me to one of their hotels which is about 2 miles away from it and they told me that I can still use the amenities But this was nothing that I paid for it was a typical hotel which I came to Florida that weekend two days early and stay at a regular hotel which was compatible to their hotel but the whole family event was supposed to be the resort and I never was compensated for it They said they were overbooked and don’t have any room at the resort … that is not what I paid for. Neither was it what I was shown during the tour.
I recently had the displeasure of attending a timeshare presentation at Westgate Resorts, and I feel compelled to share my negative experience to caution others. What was supposed to be a relaxing stay turned into a relentless sales pitch that left me feeling deceived and frustrated. From the moment I checked in, it became evident that the hotel's main objective was to sell timeshare memberships, rather than ensuring a pleasant guest experience. The check-in process was unnecessarily lengthy, as I was bombarded with persistent attempts to persuade me to attend their sales presentation. It was clear that my comfort and enjoyment as a guest took a backseat to their sales agenda.Once I reluctantly agreed to attend the presentation, I was subjected to hours of high-pressure sales tactics. The sales representatives employed manipulative techniques, using false promises and exaggerated claims to entice me into purchasing a timeshare. They downplayed the financial obligations and failed to provide a clear and transparent picture of the associated costs.Furthermore, the tactics used during the presentation were misleading and unethical. The sales team employed aggressive persuasion, attempting to create a sense of urgency and scarcity to pressure me into making an impulsive decision. It was evident that their primary focus was on closing the sale rather than genuinely addressing my concerns or providing accurate information. Moreover, the promises made during the presentation were far from reality. The sales representatives painted a picture of luxurious vacations and exclusive perks, but upon further investigation, I discovered that the actual benefits and availability were severely limited. The fine print revealed numerous restrictions, blackout dates, and hidden fees that made the timeshare much less appealing than initially presented.Additionally, the overall guest experience at the hotel suffered due to the relentless focus on timeshare sales. Staff members seemed more interested in targeting potential buyers than providing quality service to all guests. The level of attention and care I received as a non-timeshare guest was noticeably diminished, leaving me feeling undervalued and overlooked. In conclusion, my encounter with Westgate Resorts timeshare presentation was deeply disappointing. The deceptive sales tactics, false promises, and disregard for the guest experience have left a lasting negative impression. I strongly advise prospective guests to be cautious and consider alternative accommodations that prioritize genuine hospitality over aggressive sales tactics.
TO: Westgate. I sent a letter to you dated 07/28/23 and we have gotten no response to it. We saw it was delivered, yet it seems like no one has given it the time of day. So here is a summary of the things we were lied to about to warn everyone else as it appears that Westgate doesn't care about ripping people off. Our loan was higher than we were told, our heirs are forced to inherit this timeshare and all of its negative aspects we were never told about, the rescission period was left out of the closing meeting, we could generate rental income and their resorts are exclusive to their owners. If we had not been rushed into purchasing this timeshare or through the signing process we would have had time to go over the contract. It was so rushed and we were told the price we were given would only be available that day, but the price we were given was not the one we signed for. If you want to understand what high pressure sales tactics look like, just sign up for a presentation and clear your schedule. The 90 minutes they said the presentation would last turned into 8 grueling hours.
want to start off this review by saying if you take nothing else from this review, understand that Westgate does not care about you, the circumstances that come up in life, or helping you vacation affordably. All they want is to take your money, nothing else. Our experience with Westgate has been one of disappointment and being tricked into a timeshare that we can’t even use. We have been lied to, tricked, deceived, and misrepresented in every way possible, and Westgate does not care that their employees have done this to us. This started from the moment they got us in the door for their sales presentation (they had to offer us a $100 and a free stay to get us to attend). From there, they went full court press trying to convince us to sign up for a timeshare and would not take no for an answer. Since we purchased it, we have not been able to use it at all! They tell us that we can’t use the timeshare unless we spend more money upgrading! We now have the disappointment of not even knowing if we can afford to vacation all because we wasted money on a timeshare that was supposed to make traveling easier and cheaper. We have tried to give this timeshare back, as we do not want it, and they refuse to help us and instead just demand more money from us. Do yourself a favor and turn the other way if you come in contact with someone from this company.
If anyone know how to get rid of this crap please email me. My wife was scammed by them and now we have to pay monthly payments and get 0 in return. All lies: called legacy dept and they were no help. Told us that there’s nothing they can do. Hassansiddiki @ usa.com
