Disguting company. Rented a car and after leaving noticed it was 1/3 of a tank. Refueled right away expecting to be reimbursed. Refueled to full before returning but the company is refusing to pay for the tank not being full. Tried every level of appeal and not a single manager answered from area, regional, to general manager. Use any other company but ALAMO/Enterprise.
Very poor service, I have rented a car in Geneva airport, they have charged more amount on my credit card than the due amount, and also instrucated a debt collection agency to collect the due amount, very difficult to contact the customer services clarify what these amounts are, all they have is an email facility which i was told will take a week to respond. I will avoid using the company going forward.
Rented a car at Edinburgh Airport. Arrived well on time. Waited close to 2 hours. Got the car keys, however wasn't tanked to full. Didn't sweat it but took a quick foto, as was running late by now. Nobody on the parking lot to check with. Drove the car. On return had to wait ages, got subjected to a super detailed check, which seemed like they were looking for anything to charge us with. Got home. Week later got an email with a 35 charge because I'd have had a parking ticket. No details, not link to how to deal with it, just a notice and a bill. No link to email them, als not on their website. 35 Ukp is €50 by the time my bank has paid it! For NOTHING. I'm shocked, this is by far the worst car rental experiece ever. Let me add that the people working on site were lovely. It's just the management hiding in an office somewhere that really need a reality check. I feel silly for not checking trustpilot before renting. Lesson learnt. Never again.

Booked online via Expedia: $1,310 NZD due at pick-up (all fees included). At Bristol Airport, Alamo suddenly demanded $3902.76! — nearly triple. With two small children and no other option, stranded at Bristol airport car rental, I was forced to pay. The desk team repeatedly assured me that £500 ($1000NZD) of this was a refundable deposit. The car was returned in perfect condition, but no refund has ever been made.Since then I’ve heard only contradictory excuses: first that the deposit would be refunded, then that no deposit was taken, then that I’d “opted for extras” (I hadn’t). After chasing multiple times, I’ve simply been stonewalled.Reading other reviews, this is clearly a pattern of poor business practice at Alamo Bristol. Avoid at all costs.
Because of French Air Traffic Control strikes I contacted Alamo to try and delay car collection by 48 hours. I was told my only option was a refund. The customer service person asked me if I would like him to process it. I said yes. He didn't and on discovering this 10 days later I've now spoken to at least eight customer service people over the past month to try and secure the refund. It still hasn't happened and is being treated as a 'no show'. We went with Alamo because we thought we would be able to trust them. I'll never use them again, or pay for any car hire in advance. Absolutely appalling customer service.
The Alamo Manchester Airport branche ripped me off for 3300 pounds for a few scratches not caused by me. Intimidating staff threatening to add another 500 because I dropped the keys out of my shaking hands after being told to have to pay a months salary in excess. No compassion at all! I was having a panic attack and the staff kept shouting at me to calm down, that shouting did not help. Show some compassion for your clients please! No detailed invoices about the damages, just got told minimum fee is 2000 but on my card they charged 3300. This is a scam!!In contact with them for over a week now without getting any serious answer. Now they even mention the car was "lost" so they can take longer to handle my complaint.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Absolutely spot on service from really easy check in at manchester airport to helping to work with me on filing a complaint because the air con didnt work in the car they have me. Someone called me up to check i was ok and asked how they could make it better. superb customer service!
DO NOT USE ALAMO HEATHROW. TYRE SCAM!!!! BE WARNED!ONE STAR IS TOO MANY.I am writing to formally address a concerning issue with the return inspection of a vehicle under Rental Agreement #8J9JCL, collected and returned at your facility. I have been a loyal Alamo customer for several years and have always appreciated your service. However, the experience during this rental has prompted me to seek your assistance for a fair resolution.Upon collecting the vehicle, I conducted a pre-delivery inspection with a staff member named Omar, who identified himself as new to the role. I immediately noted significant damage to all mag wheels/rims, particularly the front passenger wheel, which was severely scuffed. I expressed concern about its condition, jokingly remarking, “Has my wife been driving this?” Omar acknowledged the wheel damage but assured me that the tyre itself was in good condition, specifically checking for “bubbles or splits” as per Alamo’s damage criteria. He confirmed the tyre was roadworthy, and I accepted the vehicle based on his assurance. On returning the vehicle on June 16, 2025, at approximately 18:30, the inspection was conducted by another staff member (Staff Member 2). He immediately focused on the front passenger wheel and expressed uncertainty about potential tyre damage. A third staff member (Staff Member 3) was called to inspect the tyre and similarly stated he was unsure if the tyre was damaged. Subsequently, a superior (Staff Member 4) briefly examined the tyre, ignored my attempts to engage, and concluded that the tyre was damaged, resulting in a potential charge of £280. This conclusion was reached without clear evidence or explanation, despite the initial staff members’ uncertainty.I object to this charge for the following reasons:1. During the pre-delivery inspection, Omar explicitly confirmed that the tyre was undamaged and roadworthy, despite the wheel’s condition, which I flagged at the outset.2. The return inspection revealed inconsistent assessments: two staff members were uncertain about tyre damage, while the superior’s brief inspection led to an immediate charge without transparent justification.3. The lack of clear communication and the dismissive attitude of the superior during the return process do not align with the fair and professional service I have come to expect from Alamo.Given these circumstances, I believe the potential £280 charge is unjustified. The tyre was deemed roadworthy at collection, and the inconsistent evaluations during the return inspection do not provide sufficient grounds for holding me liable. As a loyal customer, I kindly request:- A full waiver of the £280 charge.- A formal review of the inspection process to ensure clarity and consistency in future assessments.- Confirmation of the resolution in writing.
We hired a car from Alamo Heathrow and were charged extra for picking up at an airport, even though the website made it clear there were no extra charges for this. They also duped us into taking insurance we didn't need, and failed to tell us about the extra taxes and charges that this incurred. And then, of course, they didn't refund our deposit in full and didn't bother to tell us what the deduction was for. We felt scammed but helpless. We don't live in the UK, we were there for just 3 days and ended up paying nearly £500 for an economy car. Apologies for the long saga but I hope this helps anyone else who is planning on hiring a car from this company. My advice: DON'T!
