Educated and empowered!

I have struggled with health & fitness for as long as I can remember. I am not somebody who has ever had a flat stomach or felt confident in my clothes, and after years of bingeing/restricting, trying different diets, etc. I decided to give Emma a try after finding her on Instagram -- and haven't regretted it since. My journey has not been a perfect one. I have had really off weeks, plateaued, gained weight during the holidays, etc. but having the accountability and support of Emma has shifted my mindset in such a positive manner. Even when I had a bad week, I was supported in continuing my journey and staying consistent. This has lead to me being the lightest weight I've been in 5 years! In addition to the accountability, the education that Emma provides has been one of the most valuable takeaways for me. I understand nutrition and fitness so much more now... and it works for me -- I understand how to enjoy the food I love. Though our journey is coming to an end, she's provided me with the resources and teachings to continue on myself!I absolutely have loved my time with Empower. I would say that prospective joiners just need to be ready for the level of commitment. Weighing your food, meal-planning, tracking workouts, weekly check-ins are what's needed to get the most out of your time with Empower. Set truly realistic, clear expectations about what you can commit to from the beginning, so your plan can be shaped around that!

Never again - a waste of £150 a month.

I’ve been really unsure whether to post this, however after nearly a year on from using Empower I still struggle with things I’ve found out about Emma and her work ethic. I found out that you very very rarely actually speak to emma herself, EVEN THOUGH she answers to emma and even signs off conversations as emma. The “emma” I was speaking to was actually a member of her team, and was told to not correct anyone that they’re not really speaking to emma herself. If things were more transparent, that wouldn’t bother me so much, but I was truly lead to believe her attention was given to me. Someone has already made comments about her having kidney stones - the amount of sugar she uses in food is hilarious. Yes, she’s making food accessible for people and not letting anyone “miss out”, but oh my god she just eats so much processed crap. My last and most scary point - I finally hit my goal weight and told Emma that I think I could lose more. I had lost a LOT and I was met with agreement. A new goal weight was instantly given to me without question. Whilst the recipes were yummy, I was no longer enjoying the workouts but didn’t see much changed for me. Please PLEASE ask as many questions as possible if you decide to get training from Empower.

Disappointing

I decided to join Empower because I needed accountability to stick to my diet and I wanted access to their recipes (if you follow her on Insta you’ll know Emma’s food always looks amazing!). However, my experience with Empower wasn’t great. Firstly, we weren’t off to a good start. I enquired about their services and they arranged a call to discuss my goals. I made it very clear to the guy I spoke to that I only wanted a meal plan. I didn’t want a workout plan as I was already doing another programme and enjoying it a lot. He spoke to Emma and said they’d charge me £105/month for that. I thought that was expensive for only a meal plan but I thought I’d still give it a go. To my surprise, a couple of days later, Emma sent me both a meal plan and a workout routine (which was confusing because it made me question whether or not I was paying extra for something I didn’t need). Strangely enough though, that workout routine didn’t change while I was with them and Emma never mentioned it during our weekly check-ins. Another thing that I thought was strange was the fact that Emma (or whoever makes the meal plans) didn’t respect my preferences that I had specified in the questionnaire they make you fill out before starting the service. Specifically, I asked to have a couple of lattes/coffees a day included in my meal plan and that was completely missed. When I asked about it, Emma just told me to replace them for one of my snacks. Now the coffees didn’t have the same amount of calories/macro breakdown as her snacks, which meant that I had to make those calculations again myself (which is a minor thing but you’d think they’d do that for you for £105 a month, especially as I had specified it in the initial questionnaire). Finally, after a couple of months trying the service I realised I wasn’t getting good value for my money and following the meal plan was affecting my relationship with food, so I tried to cancel. I told Emma that I felt working with Empower was affecting my mental health and that I wanted to cancel before things got worse and work on myself. The first time I mentioned it she convinced me to continue with the service, so I renewed. But after another week I was fully convinced the service wasn’t for me and I spoke to her again and asked her to cancel my plan. This time she said she’d make an exception with me because she usually asks for a note from the doctor if we try to cancel before 3 or 5 months (I can’t remember exactly how long). And that was it for me. Who is this girl to ask for a note from your doctor to allow you to cancel? That was a huge red flag coming from someone who “prides herself” in helping girls who have a bad relationship with food.I have nothing against Emma or Empower and I’m sure they mean well but they need to listen to their clients and put them first. I’ve waited a few months before leaving this review and I actually wasn’t going to do it because I wanted to put my bad experience behind me, but I wish I could have seen a review like this before joining Empower. It would have saved me some money and it would have meant not putting my mental health at risk.

Join us! It’ll be the best thing you do.

After years of training at the gym, I always struggled with the diet side. I downloaded MyFitnessPal, asked my PT what calories I should be eating to become leaner. I tried but failed. I had no knowledge on food groups, or what type of meals were going to get me the results I wanted. So stuck to boring foods that worked around the calories I had been suggested. I was sick of feeling sluggish and binging at the weekend. It wasn’t until my boyfriend told me I was looking a little fluffy that I decided to invest in a proper coach that does it all. I tried a few different people, but didn’t get the support I was looking for. So made a few financial errors then stumbled on Empower! I cannot express how unbelievably happy I am that I decided to join. Week on week I have been seeing results, lifting heavier, looking leaner, eating all my favourite foods and still able to go out and socialise without thinking ‘oh I’ll have a salad’. Eye roll* The app is so easy as well, you don’t have to think about what you’re going to buy for dinner or do in the gym, it’s all there for you! If anyone is undecided about investing in themselves, I would just do it and don’t question it,It’ll be the best thing you decide to do. I have never once felt restricted or my calories too low. I’ve always felt full after meals and she has been so supportive. I’m going through Uni and messages me a little good luck note about my assignments. So thoughtful. Emma and the team are honesty amazing and I’ve felt so uplifted and confident since joining 💕

Invest in yourself, you won’t regret it!

Absolutely brilliant! I started my plan in September and I’ve lost over a stone already without any silly fad diets or spending hours in the gym. Emma and her team are fantastic and are consistently on hand when I need them, they are always motivating me with my progress but never make you feel bad for any slip ups. They have completely changed my views on healthy lifestyles and I’ve realised you can stay healthy, reach your goals all whilst still eating the foods you love and enjoy, no plain chicken & broccoli in sight!! I’ll continue my journey with empower as I cannot wait to see my progress further in the year. The best self investment I’ve made!

Emma is kind, understanding and professional.

I had a positive experience with Emma’s coaching. You can tell she is passionate about helping people, she is professional and kind and understanding. I wanted to try the coaching as it sounded great, but couldn’t really afford to continue with the coaching. Emma was understanding about this, and I appreciate her kindness. She made me delicious meal plans which included my favourite foods, and the workouts were challenging and interesting to me. She always responded quickly on the app messages and answered all my questions. I like her flexible dieting approach because it isn’t restrictive, and she ensures that the meal plans include all the right nutrients and vitamins your body needs. Overall it was a positive experience. Personally I don’t feel I can afford the coaching at the moment, however I can see the benefits of you can afford it. The app is useful and easy to use too. I think Emma is inspiring, and I particularly respect her for being kind and not promoting restrictive or disordered eating. Personally I did find myself feeling negative about weighing out but that is a personal preference. The meal plan was definitely filling, nutritious and tasty. I just felt myself not liking weighing out foods and it’s better for my mental health and relationship to food not to worry too much about precise food weights. For example, I might want to put some blueberries on oatmeal and not worry about weighing them. I shared my concerns with Emma though, and she was supportive and offered extra meal plans, workouts and reminded me that the approach isn’t a strict regime sort of thing, she does have a healthy and good mindset and vibe with nutrition. I can understand why foods should be weighed for clients but I won’t be weighing them in future because I feel more positive about food that way. I would recommend Emma if you want support and good information on your health and fitness journey if you can afford it. I think if you have a history of disordered eating, it would be helpful to let Emma know, so that she can be aware of this and support you in the best way (it is also included in the initial medical form so Emma will be aware so that’s good). 😊I would continue with this but unfortunately I can’t afford it at the moment, and my mental health has been low so I feel I haven’t made the most of it! 🌧 it was a positive experience though and Emma was kind, professional and understanding throughout. ⭐️

So happy I joined Empower!

If you’re thinking about signing up, just do it! I had been following Emma and Empower on Instagram for a few months prior to enquiring and finally took the plunge almost a year ago and I’m so happy I did. My goal was to lose body fat and although I’m not yet at my goal, I’m confident Empower will help me reach it by the time my wedding comes around! The help and support from Emma and the team has been great - I’ve found communication to be fantastic, always responding in a timely manner and whenever I have specific questions about workout form or a certain exercise, they’re very detailed and helpful in their response. Joining Empower has helped me in so many other areas than just my initial goal of losing body fat. My form on exercises has improved tremendously and I’m so much more confident in the gym - I only ever used to attend classes as I was too scared to do my own thing in the open gym! The workout plans are fantastic and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them, training in a way I would have been way too afraid to do prior to joining (ie lifting heavy!!). The app also now has a feature to record your reps and weights for each workout which is great! The meal plans are also great - if you are craving certain foods, they are able to tailor this in to your calories & macros for you and the recipes themselves are easy to make but very tasty. The support from Emma and the team is one of the main reasons I’m so happy I joined. They are sympathetic to normal, busy lifestyles and understand that not everyone can give 100% 24/7, sometimes life gets in the way but they help you get back on track in a supportive way! So excited to continue my journey with Empower and see what I can achieve next year!

The best fitness and nutrition coach out there

I had been following Emma for around 2 years before i signed up to Empower and through the amazing information on training and nutrition on her Instagram, she'd already been helping me in improving my relationship with food long before we even starting working together. But i never thought that i could take the plunge of actually just going for it and signing up to Empower coaching - ultimately, i never thought i could be 'that girl', i didnt believe in myself that i could do it.But signing up to Empower has honestly been the best decision of my life. It has quite literally transformed me in so many ways. Ive gone from fearing foods and restricting myself to eating the most amazing foods (so much of them!!!!) and ive also completely fallen in love with the gym too. Im now eating all of my favourite foods and previous fear foods (spreads, biscuits, pizza, pasta!!) every day, while at the same time feeling the best, strongest, and happiest i have EVER felt. There are thousands of fitness coaches out there, but hand on my heart i say there's not another like Emma. She's amazing at what she does, and so kind and inspiring too. Ive loved every second of my time so far with Empower and im so beyond excited for what's still to coming on my journey.💖💖💖

Current Client - My honest thoughts so far!

Current client - Week 15 : Lost 15 lbs and 75cm If you are undecided, a complete newbie, and have never committed to anything this review is for you! Sharing my experience after 15 weeks! 😅For a few months I was debating on joining Empower, but was hesitant because I was self conscious, didn’t know how much support there would be knowing Emma has tons of clients, being in Canada and her in the UK, and not even sure if I could stick to any type of plan. I’m also introverted and find it hard to connect with people so I was worried about that as well. When my weight was at an all time high I decided to just go for it and reach out to become a client. When I signed up, I was surprised at how detailed the initial intake was in terms of my habits, food preferences, health, workout preferences such as excuses I like and dislike or how often I want to workout, and what my goals were. It was not just a basic ‘where do you workout and how much do you currently weigh”. I was also super happy with the app once I downloaded it, it was super easy to use and I love being able to see how my progress is being tracked. Of course everything can use improvement but she asks clients along the way what is and isn’t working! I was nervous to give pictures of myself and my measurements, but not once has Emma ever made me feel bad, awkward, or ashamed of my body. When I first saw my meal plan and workout plan I was actually excited, the food is so good and she incorporated foods I didn’t think I’d be able to eat! She also gives so many options for meal and swaps out whatever I don’t like! My workout plan was also tailored to the equipment I had at home, and I wasn’t given a plan someone who had been working for years was expected to do, but one that allowed me to get started and focus on a routine, form, and getting comfortable with working out in general.I’m 15 weeks in, and I NEVER thought I’d be able to lose weight, especially without being on a super strict diet, doing intense workouts 6x a week that had me exhausted, and just being miserable. BUT my workouts are about 45 mins 4-5 days a week, and I’ve been able to lose 15 lbs so far, lose CMs and build muscle! I have eaten outside of my meal plan, I’ve missed a few workout days and I’ve been on vacation, and she’s never made me feel bad for it, but rather she is so encouraging and always reminds me progress is not just on the numbers. She also helped me create healthy habits like getting 8h of sleep a night which for years I wasn’t, getting a good amount of water in per day which I never did before, getting steps in on top of working out, she’s literally helped me turn my life around! I know it sounds cheesy but I was a mess before this in terms of my health and body. Of course there were days when I was tired, or didn’t feel like I wanted to do it, or thought my progress was slower than others, but Emma really instills the importance of communication with her and let’s you be open and honest if you’re struggling, and she will always try to help and modify your meals, workouts, give encouragement and reassurance if needed. It’s so easy to message her when you need to, and she always explains something if I don’t understand an exercise, how calories increasing and decreasing works etc. Honestly, it takes a lot of work but it’s been so worth it and I don’t regret it at all, I wish I started sooner and if you’re struggling or need a change I definitely say give it a shot!

Where to even start!

I honestly cannot recommend Emma and her team enough! She has, and is continuing to, help me change my life and I will forever be grateful for her for that. No matter what Emma and her team are so accepting and encouraging, constantly supporting me with whatever I’m facing whilst making food and exercise changes. The constant re-assurance is amazing and so so quickly you form a relationship of trust where you know you can be totally honest with Emma and there is no judgment whatsoever. I mean of course her meals are amazing and her workouts are so enjoyable whilst still being so effective but you know, I think the whole process is just MADE by how much Emma genuinely cares. She is so sincere and genuinely puts her life and soul into helping you become the best version of you. So if you’re in doubt as to whether or not to work with Emma, honestly just give it a try - what realistically have you got to lose? I don’t think you will find a more genuine and supportive team (the workouts and the meals are just a plus!).
