Like a lot of other reviews my wife and…

Like a lot of other reviews my wife and I had a great experience when buying a used car, the salesman identified some minor marks on bodywork and wheels and repaired it all before handing over the car. Now the service department is another matter, many times contacted about problems, never call back, same man on reception repeatedly (I mean three times on same fault) said this is the cost when we had a warranty with them. Final straw was parking sensor went, took it in to Griffin Mill, they said water ingress caused the problem on the bumper!!! what my wife was only supposed drive on dry days!!! To add insult to this they said the warranty wouldn't cover the cost as it was water ingress and wanted £1100 to replace wiring loom. Never again will we use or recommend Griffin Mill, we have now sold the car, not that it wasn't a good car but let down completely by the after care service.

Faulty car and poor response to a formal complaint

I only wish I'd have read these reviews before purchasing a car from Griffin Mill (the Renault garage). There have been a number of faults with car since I purchased it from them a year ago. They clearly do not service or inspect vehicles properly as in just under a year I have had to have a new battery fitted, a new tyre (which was faulty during the test drive which I had to eventually pay for) and a fault with the evap pump (which credit to them they've extended the warranty for as a "gesture of goodwill")On top of this, I found the customer service to be disappointing. Trying to get hold of anyone over the phone is impossible. Not everyone though...Caitlin on the service desk is lovely and had the patience to listen to me. I have since issued a formal complaint which doesn't feel like it's been read properly as 90% of it has failed to have been acknowledged in subsequent emails. I certainly won't be returning and would advise others to look elsewhere too.

Patronising, deceitful salesperson

Really disappointing sales experience today. Visited to test drive a car (on the day the sales person, Richard, preferred - presumably so he could ensure he received the commission - rather than one more convenient for me) It suited what we needed and we went through the process of buying it. We found the sales experience very patronising and uncomfortable (e.g. when we asked what the car came with when sold we were sarcastically told "four wheels, a steering wheel.." and were only told information on MOT, service and warranty when we explicitly asked.) The sales experience continued to be pushy and undermining (when I said I'd prefer to pay cash rather than finance, my opinion was belittled with comments like "you don't want a free £500?!") I asked what the best price for the car was and Richard said he'd check, consulted the computer, and told us a price that was £300 was cheaper. We discussed the price and agreed to it. I then left my husband and friend to have a coffee while I finalised the deposit and bank details. Once I was alone with the business manager I was presented with a bill that was for the original price of the car, without the £300 agreed discount. I questioned it and was told that was what was on the computer. The business manager then checked with Richard and was told I must have misheard and no discount was agreed. I felt very uncomfortable being told by two men I must have imagined/misheard something that had just happened. At this point I went to check with my husband and friend to see if I had misheard. They confirmed that I had not, and had heard the same. I asked them to come back with me then because I was uncomfortable continuing the discussion by myself as I felt completely unheard, and undermined at this point, which Richard's previous patronising attitude contributed to. We discussed it with both Richard and the business manager and they repeated that we all must have misheard, and were told that they never haggle or offer a discounted price on second hand cars. I was very unimpressed and felt like they were trying to trick me into a sale by telling me one price and then changing it. I would not recommend this car sales garage. It was a very uncomfortable experience and I can only imagine how uncomfortable I would have felt without taking my husband and friend with me. All apologies were false apologies that directed the blame back to us "I'm sorry you misheard us." I do not believe three people misheard Richard. The sexist, patronising attitudes, lying to customers and general unpleasantness is simply not acceptable.

Awful service

They love you if you are buying a car but service and repairs is awful. I receive multiple communications trying to sell me a car but try and get an appointment for a repair on my current car (which I purchased here) and they can't even be bothered to return a call for an appointment.

Superb service and friendly garage

From start to finish the service I received when choosing my car was outstanding.Mark was there to greet me and explained everything so carefully and thoughtfully. It was my first time leasing a car and I was worried about getting approved etc. Mark was so patient and had outstanding knowledge and industry experience to help me make my decision. I really appreciated how the garage was so warm, friendly and welcoming. I never felt pressurised to buy in that exact moment which really made me feel like I was making the right choice with Griffin Mill. Paul was also fantastic and I couldn’t rate their services higher. Thank you for helping me purchase my dream car!

Gone to the Dogs

Difficult to contact. Sometimes call after call and no answer.A friend's Fiat wouldn't start due to an immobiliser fault. He phoned Griffin Mill and they said there was nothing that they could do! I called on his behalf about the key code and emergency starting, but they said it needed to be towed in. Contacted another dealer in Cardiff who gave him the key code and he was able to start it. The Cardiff dealer examined it and it was just a faulty key!I was offered some respraying on my Fiat at a good price, but they had missed a chip on the bonnet. I asked for a new quote. A letter arrived saying "see enclosed quote", but there was no quote in the envelope! Some work was required on my Fiat that were issues following service and MOT. I phoned them and they said they'd get back to me with costs. Three weeks later and I've not heard from them. I'm having the work done by someone else who obtained the part prices in about 10 minutes and then quoted me.At every service, they list "rust on brake discs" as a concern. I've had the discs checked independently and there's nothing wrong with them. Other people may be panicked into having discs changed. This garage used to be so good. One of the best I've dealt with. Since they were taken over and many of the experienced staff have gone, they've deteriorated to the point where I've had enough, sold my Fiat and bought a Honda.
