Appalling service.

Appalling service. It’s taken over 4 months to get my claim sorted and the whole process was diabolical. I would not recommend this insurance company. I am a happy Halifax bank customer and they are letting down the good name with their insurance division. After numerous no shows from their contractor, a mess up with payments, being told the wrong information and countess hours wasted. If you are reading this rotten review I suggest you consider another insurance company for a more positive experience.

Rude

Rude, patronising and unhelpful staff. Absolutely useless phone line. Worst insurance company I’ve ever gone with, and will certainly not be renewing. Wish I’d seen all these 1 star reviews when I signed up to them six years ago.

Refusal to help with storm damaged Roof lantern

Roof lantern was damaged in a storm and they said they wouldn't fix it due to the way it was installed, leaving us with a hole in the roof before Christmas. Then the renewal quote increased by almost £200 and was littered with new exclusions so they can get out of paying pretty much anything. This was supposedly their "Ultimate" policy too! Just renewed with LV and I am getting a better policy for £400 less.

Disappointing, disinterested and ill informed

Disappointing. Firstly when one tries to talk to them there is a several minute automated pre-amble that tells the caller various things such as if one is rude/abusive etc that they have the right not to speak to you. My issue with that is that it gives the impression that they believe you will be rude and abuse as a matter of routine. Perhaps they should show a little more respect to their callers? My particular gripe is that I insured with them and had not received the documents and payment schedule prior to the date of the first payment. I called and asked for the details, receiving a gruff and mumbled response of "we don't do that" - well actually Halifax Insurance you do and are required to do so by law. I reminded the call handler of this legal obligation and he smartened up his response somewhat, although still continued to disinterestedly mumble his way through the call. This is the second time I have found it necessary to ring them and the standard of call handling has been very poor on both occasions. I will not be renewing with them.

Never will I renew my home insurance…

Never will I renew my home insurance policy again with them. No one ever available to speak to. Kept on hold for long lengths of time. Call then cuts off. Worst insurance company ever.

One star only because I couldn't give 0…

One star only because I couldn't give 0 stars. Had a leak in my bathroom today, bathroom flooded, kitchen flooded, couldn't turn the water off completely from the inside stopcock, so rang Halifax emergency at 2.19. At 6.30 still waiting to hear off the emergency plumber to say if there is someone coming out tonight to turn the water off at the outside mains. I am 66, I can't do it myself. My neighbour came home from work and I asked him if he could turn the water off at the mains, he did and repaired the leak in the bathroom. Just rang the company to tell them not to bother. to send anyone out. Wish I had read the reviews before I took out this insurance, don't hold out much hope to claim for all the damage in the house.

Having recently losing my wallet

Having recently losing my wallet, I cancelled my cards at which point I was told my credit card didn't exist because I hadn't used it in a while they'd cancelled it despite my card being valid till 2026 .They claimed they'd written twice and had the letters "returned" .They have my email and my telephone number.Surely an organisation this big has the ability to make a phone call !More ridiculous is on a daily basis I'm bombarded with messages to my Halifax app as to how much I've spent more than last week and how to keep my money safe from "scammers" yet there unable to tell me my credit card has been cancelled! To add insult to injury when trying to reinstate by reapplying for some thing I've had for 40 odd years , I was told I had a bad credit score! Why ? Because I don't borrow or have any debt .So despite having £20+ thousand sitting in the Halifax and even more in the equally inefficient Lloyds bank I not eligible for a credit card .I don't actually want any credit but without the dreaded piece of plastic you struggle to book a hotel ,car hire or restaurant! Halifax/Lloyds customer service is an absolute joke and as soon as I find "proper" bank my money is coming out of them both ...

We had an Engineer come out from Hoover…

We had an Engineer come out from Hoover Candy who flooded our kitchen. So spoke to their insurance and was told to get all quotes and send in to them. I expained to them i was disabled and could not do it. Anyway spoke to Halifax who our insurance is with, dont worry we can sort it for you and we will claim all the money back form Hoover Candy. Anyway my insurance went up this year by £120 and this is because i had a claim. Right yes i had a claim but was informed by HALIFAX that once they get their money back then the claim wont go against me. Well that is one big massive lie. I have just had a cal from them saying now you had a claim end of. So i have been shoy in the back from Halifax as they told me lies that the claim once paid back to them from the 3rd party my claims will be nil. These people just tell you what you like to hear then stab you in the back. Complete robbers.

Terrible Internet connection

I had missed call from Halifax as I put a claim through on behalf of my 86 Yr old mum who had lost hot water and heating due to leak pipe. The Halifax rep left message on my voicemail. I can only assume that this person is working from home and not the office as the Internet was so bad and I only got garbled message and got part of the phone number to call back. I was hoping the caller would call again today but no avail. How am I supposed to progress this when Halifax can't even get their reps to use a decent phone line. It's all so frustrating and completely unprofessional way of running a company!! Come on Halifax you can do better than this!!!!

halifax scam company

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will routinely refuse your claim on any buildings insurance regardless of damage through storm. They will claim it is fair wear and tear. BE WARNED THEY ARE A SCAM COMPANY! When you buy a policy with them they will promise to honour claims but when you try to claim and show slates have been torn off from recent storms, they will claim the tiles are old and slipping. I have used a roofer who confirmed the roof despite being old was in a good state of repair and damage was certainly a result of high winds. Check out the reviews. They are truly awful and some of the worst you will see in the insurance industry. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
