3 + months now without my item or recompense, passed to a claims handler who I can only assume has eloped as never answers the phone or return calls. You will get an excuse every time you call from different people and this will come at great time expense to you, but rest assured nothing will happen and you will have to do it again. AVOID at all costs.
Storm Amy removed the lead flashing and several ridge tiles from our home. We tried the emergency 24/7 phoneline, no one answered. The next day I contacted a roofer who came out and covered the roof with a tarp, he also surveyed the damage with a drone and put an estimate together for us. We submitted the estimate and waited. We tried contacting Halifax again first thing on the Monday morning, they said they would send an assessor, repeated back and forth between us and them, telling us not to proceed with repairs until damage was assessed. 14 days later an Assessor turned up all the while we have a hole in the roof leaking into the house. The guy had no ladders no drone no proper assessment done, took one picture and left. Didn't ask for any information about what happened. Halifax now refuse to pay out, claiming the damage didn't occur during the storm. When we asked how the guy had done the survey fro inside the attic, they said we would have to pay to get the tarp removed, on a sunny day when it would be able to get the assessor back. It's October in UK not renowned for sunny days. Maybe they could have asked for the tarp removed before sending a guy out. Rubbish communication, bad faith actors. Save yourself some trouble avoid Halifax insurance. We have started a complaints process, on advice of the financial ombudsman, I have little hope this will be resolved to our satisfaction.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!Terrible service! Had an upstairs flood on the 3rd May, causing extensive damage. Halifax treat claims separately between buildings and contents and so appoint 2 companies, 2 excess of £350! However contents are not dealt with until buildings is completed. All started well enough. With loss adjuster etc. They appointed a company called all Paradigm, for buildings, who were busy so came and removed walls ceilings flooring etc, radiators, electrical sockets and lights downstairs in July. Leaving us in the dark and limited heating. They were supposed to return and we were notified they’d be completed by the 8th September, and so Halifax, on this basis, engaged the contents company (carpets, furniture furnishings). We have had most our contents removed by Paradigm in preparation of their works, but not all as they were supposed to, and failed to return. We are forced to live between our kitchen, bathroom and uncarpeted bedroom.Paradigm did not turn up, and despite directing us to companies to make choices, then stated on several occasions we couldn’t use the companies or the product we had chosen. This meant that other works now delayed, as a result. We have repeatedly chased up Halifax and made a formal complaint. This week Paradigm turned up to replace flooring in one small room and our small bathroom. They refused to commit to when the rest of work would be completed. However, Paradigm only fitted the flooring in the small room and left. I then received a mail from their PM stating that they wouldn’t continue the works as I had another contractor on site, and they had to leave. This contractor was not involved in or anywhere near the works and was a family friend who was also affording access to them. I had already taken time off work for the works, previously scheduled. I assured Paradigm that no other contractors would be present as they required and asked them to return. I then received a mail from Paradigm, cancelling all their future works!!!!!We have requested to be rehoused, repeatedly, but are refused, as Halifax deem our property as habitable, as long as you can cook, wash and sleep. You can do that in a tent!!! They have just offered a very poor cash settlement of £2800, to fit flooring/skirting, supply and fit doors, refit radiators, supply descaling and decorating materials and employ a project manager. They refuse to adjust the offer, and also state that it does not include VAT, thus encouraging me to break the law and take the risk of employing works with cash in hand and thus no warranty of works. They state they can’t find another company for several weeks, before they could come and carry out a scope of works. To top it all, they now want to return our belongings in storage, to a house not renovated! We paid/paying top premium for our insurance with Halifax as they were also our mortgage provider! Not any longer to both!Avoid Halifax and Paradigm like the plague!!!!!!!
Looking at the reviews on here I have mad the wrong decision for the past 5years . Claim from 28th June not resolved , now 23rd sept . Nightmare to speak to someone on a claim .Not new replacements offered , £8k accidental damage £2 k offered . Still chasing for a settlement, don’t respond to emails . DO NOT USE, more professional companies out there who care
I phoned Halifax today as I had a quote online for home and buildings insurance and had some specific queries about parts of a policy. I spoke with Samantha. First of all they were silent for a few minutes and came on saying problem with headset. Then they were unable to find the policy this related to and had to go to their manager. Then I queried some details concerning the policy and was told that it was in the policy booklet but they didn't know where that was. Then they said that don't worry you are covered anyway with ultimate, and didn't seem to understand that I wanted to see some specific details about coverage relating to oil. Then they said that the policy booklet was only available once you purchased the policy !!! And couldn't understand that a buyer needs to see the details before they buy. Incredible. Then they said the product I was attempting to buy was not valid, even though it clearly was on your website. Then they said that this was the wrong department even though the number was advertised on the quote form. Finally, I am sat on a call as he/she/who is putting me through to somebody in a different department. Now on for 30 minutes. And, I've gone to log a complaint and you are asking me for an account number .. i mean, you can't make this up.
Called reporting an ongoing leak in the roof with water running out of a light fitting in the ceiling. Initially told "the team will contact you within 5 working days". When I explained this would be too late for obvious reasons, they offered to call back in 10 minutes. After 40 minutes I got a call to advise me to contact a local repairer. Totally scripted system taking no account of individual situations
Just wondered if anyone else has trouble contacting halifax by phone. This afternoon I telephoned Halifax and was advised the they were busy and would take 10mins to answer, after about 5 mins a phone message informed me that the other person had cleared. After contacting other insurance companies I thought I would get back to Halifax and was informed that it would now be 40 mins to answer. I feel that my problem is not covered by online means and wonder if anyone has has the same problem
Halifax home insurance - I had a bathroom leak, dealt with finding the cause, then as a Saturday Halifax phone number closed. The phone number is deliberately hidden, so started the claim online, horrible form that forced box ticking that wasn't precisely what I wanted to say, evidence from apple phone not accepted as video, only small video in a non-smart phone format. Tried to call 3 days later and automated system refused to let me speak to anyone, through me out saying they needed 5 days to process. I have a soggy bathroom and no idea what is happening. Never claimed on home insurance before, Halifax is a terrible experience so far.
