I took my 9 year old niece to Penneys to shop with her birthday money and she collected a basket at the door and filled it and we went to the checkout to a very nice sales assistant who checked in my niece's purchases. When we got home I found the receipt contained an item that we had not picked up, I figured it had been left at the bottom of the shopping basket/bag and we did not see it before we went shopping, it was something my niece had no use for, and was too young to use it. I sent a photo of the item along with a copy of the receipt to Customer Services Primark and they promptly replied and subsequently sent a e-gift card for twice the price of the item. Thank you Primark.
Went to return a couple of items. The first were socks that had rubber around the rim of the sock to help them stay up and the second was a shirt. The socks had caused a dermatitis where the rubber had contact with my skin and the shirt had a pen mark on it that I hadn’t noticed on purchase. The customer services assistant Karam called her manager. The manager, Samya, told me that the socks couldn’t have caused me dermatitis as no other customers had complained. With regards to the pen mark, she told me that items are meticulously checked on the shop floor and an item would never be sold with a pen mark on it. I had to argue with her before she issued the returns but her attitude remained poor and argumentative.
Decent stores, nice staff (where I've visted). The clothes are unsurprisingly very bad and not for the reason you might first expect. The problem is the dyes. The stitching of clothes is usually great and the materials are fairly good, but none of the garments have good quality fast dyes. End result? After a few washes your garment fades, or worse; if it is black, navy or dark grey it will end up with brownish red stains where the red dye has run and the others haven't. This actually makes Primark terrible value for money as you'd need to replace every garment that does this far more often than if you'd paid double the price elsewhere. Think, one pair of shorts from Primark lasting a month or two versus a well made pair with good dyes lasting one or two years, perhaps longer.I won't shop here again. I don't shop here exclusively, but this is one of the few stores I keep having to buy replacements for. Matalan was the same. Cheap dyes ruin otherwise good clothing. Bad value. Bad quality non-colourfast dyes. There really is no point stepping foot in this shop.Note: all washed per the label unstructions (40°C) & washed with similar colours, inside out.
I wish I could give it less than one star …. I have kids and shop at Primark frequently - yesterday I tried to exchange a pair of shorts (all labels and tags still on) my daughter had bought the week before for a larger size …didn’t have the receipt - but had the payment on my card which I tried to show the cashier ….she agreed she could see it was a straight exchange but would need her supervisor - I could see the supervisor approaching and even before she heard what I needed - she was clear - no receipt - no refund ! I was very kind and calm and replied that that was ok - I didn’t want a refund, I wanted a simple exchange - to which she responded - No - no receipt - no exchange, then walked off. The cashier was so embarrassed - especially as I had a full basket with £140 quids worth of clothes in ! I told her to keep the shorts and donate them - but she had to refuse as it was against policy ! The whole thing was outrageous and old fashioned - most shops work on barcodes now - not paper receipts … Primark needs to adapt and evolve and put some effort into training their staff to be more professional, empathic and kind !!
Appalling customer service. There is no telephone help whatsoever at the Harrogate store, or indeed the Head Office. I have tried no less than 9 times to make contact, over the past week, the line rings out for a short period of time, and then the line clears down, BEFORE anyone speaks to the customer. Resorting to e-mail is hardly any better because I have had around 3 responses to my e-mail from the same advisor, who doesn't seem to be able to understand what I am trying to ask! Auto- pilot responses are no good! All I wanted was to request an extension of a few days extra( to the date on my receipt) to return an item which didn't fit.I have to drive almost 30 miles to the nearest Primark store, and it would have helped me over an emergency. I have spent a lot of money at Primark over the years, and am disgusted that they simply couldn't care less about the customer's problems, and are unwilling to put themselves out in order to give any supportI won't be shopping there again. .
I shop in Primark a lot and generally the quality of the clothes is good and better priced than other high street retailers, although the sizing of their clothes is all over the place often meaning I have to go up two sizes in jeans - that’s fine I expect it now, but their refund policy is shocking. I bought some jeans that didn’t fit and a bodysuit that was too short even though it was the right size on the label, I’ve searched everywhere for the receipt and can’t find it. Their refund policy is that you have to have the *original till receipt* not *proof of purchase* as you do with other retailers. Sometimes people lose their receipts, life happens! Luckily the value of my items I wanted to return was only £16 but if I were a person in financial hardship like so many people are these days, this would be a lot of money to suck up! I tried to ask if they would send me a receipt or if I called the store with my transaction info would they reprint it - I got repetitive answers basically stating their refund policy which I could find on the back of my till receipt…which is lost. I’m going to have to start trying clothes in the changing rooms each time from now on as I don’t want to risk losing my receipt god forbid.
