Living Social and their partner Prime Holiday are engaged in what can only be described as a disgusting and predatory business practice designed to trap consumer funds. I purchased a £338.97 holiday voucher on 28 November 2025, and what followed was a masterclass in professional de-platforming and bad faith.

The "scam" works like this: You buy a voucher for a "relaxed weekend break" from a specific region (London). Upon redemption, Prime Holiday (the merchant) informs you that every viable flight or weekend date requires an additional "supplementary fee" of £80 or more—often 30-50% of the original voucher cost. They intentionally offer impossible alternatives, such as flights from airports 100 miles away (Bristol) or return flights at 5:30 AM, to force you into paying these hidden extras.

When you refuse these unfair terms and request a refund, the circular buck-passing begins. Prime Holiday claims they cannot refund you and directs you to a Wowcher/Living Social WhatsApp link. That link is a dead end with no human response. Living Social then points back to the merchant. This is a deliberate, circular arrangement intended to exhaust the customer until they give up on their money.

Be warned: This is a breach of the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. They are selling a product they have no intention of delivering at the advertised price. I have now escalated this as a Section 75 claim with Capital One and reported both entities to Trading Standards.

Avoid these companies at all costs. They are not travel providers; they are specialists in consumer obstruction.

I bought a “Murder Mystery Break for 2 – Hotel, Breakfast & Dinner” voucher for £130, reasonably believing this covered two people as stated in the deal title.
After redeeming, I discovered in the fine print that two vouchers must be purchased — meaning £130 is actually per person (£260 total for two). This was not clearly stated in the main description and contradicts the “Break for 2” headline. Customer service simply referred me to the fine print rather than acknowledging the confusing wording.
Very misleading presentation. Read everything carefully before purchasing.

I received a gift by email from a friend. Please note: in the email I received — which I also forwarded to them — there is no expiration date and nothing explaining that the voucher had to be claimed immediately. I waited two months, then decided to book my spa experience, only to be told that the voucher had expired — even though I had never claimed it.

I contacted them to explain what had happened and, above all, to understand how I was supposed to know about an expiration date when there was no mention of it in the email. The result? Three days of chatting with completely incompetent staff who couldn’t even understand the issue, let alone resolve it.

A suggestion for the future: hire customer service staff who have at least completed compulsory education.

I ordered a coat that was advertised as "Unisex Navy North Face Windproof and Waterproof Zipper Hooded Jacket". However when you click the link it then changes to "North Face Inspired Windproof and Waterproof Zipper Hooded Jacket". I contacted Wowcher who said i had to send an email to another company even though this was within hours of my order. I then had to wait for Chinese new year to finish for the company to email me saying they don't have my order details and asked for a screenshot from Wowcher. This was sent and was told Wowcher would then refund me. The refund was processed but as a credit to my wowcher account with no option to have the money refunded back to me! So here I am awaiting for the shambolic customer services on WhatsApp to tell me why they cant refund me! Absolute awful company, avoid like the. Plague

And yet again find it almost impossible to navigate the myriad of pop ups trying to part me from my money so that I could redeem my voucher. I wrote to Customer Support via WhatsApp only be to be told that the email address I used was not on their system. I am sorry but any company who thinks that they can run their business via online systems should be avoided at all costs and Wowcher is one of those.

I recently ordered a bed on the 12 of February and was meant to be delivered todaybut have finally received a email yesterday saying the item is not avaliable for delivery and wowcher will be informed to send a refund, if you know it's not available for delivery into my area then you shouldn't be taking people's money nevermind leaving it to the very last minute. Now I have to wait for 3 days for the delivery company to confirm they can't deliver even though they already stated that in the email. Only reason for my four star rating, is that the pages are always so visually very busy and an adhd brain struggles with it, way too much information in one hit, then if you decide to buy now. Again a very busy page, this time with the added pressure of a short countdown, which is very real for someone who has ADHD and is dyslexic..very overwhelming!.
