It's getting worse by the months at Aldi. Used to love Aldi, but recently it's just getting too expensive. I buy the small jars of honey , use it for tea and coffee, it's just gone up front 85p to 99p and the jar is now plastic instead of glass. It was leaking in the shopping bag. I'm slowly going back to the likes of Asda and Sainsbury's. Aldi just doesn't save you much, like it used to do.
Trying to do the right thing I pointed out that it was illegal to cover up alcohol strength and quantity in bottle with a security sticker. The response from staff was that’s how we have to do it.Not what I would have expected. So Aldi believe you don’t need quantity and alcohol strength clear on drinks.
Disappointing Experience at Aldi Wishaw. I’m very disappointed with the way my son and his friends were treated at the store. The floor was wet and the warning sign wasn’t placed properly — one of them slipped but thankfully didn’t fall. Instead of checking if they were okay, a male staff member in a high-vis vest blocked their way and asked abruptly, “What do you want?” Moments later, a female staff member near the checkout shouted across the store, “Get what you need and get out!” — loud enough for everyone to hear. Before they even reached the checkout, the same male staff member accused one of them of putting something in his pocket. The boys immediately showed they had nothing and left feeling embarrassed and upset. This situation could have been handled with understanding and respect. Between the poor safety standards, false accusation, and rude behaviour, it was an unacceptable experience. I hope Aldi looks into this and ensures staff receive proper training on customer care and professionalism, especially when dealing with young people.
Rude staff at Purley Way storeI always buy x2 or 3 cases of oat milk due to allergies and intolerances within my household. Yesterday the guy at the self serve check out saw my trolley and instantly said, Sorry, we can only sell you 1 case (8cartons). I asked why and he said because it’s always been like that and 1 case is the maximum they can sell me. I explained that I always buy 2 or 3 cases and be insisted that I was wrong. I asked for him to call the store manager and he walked over to help another customer then came back to me and claimed that someone in his ear had told him that I cannot have the milk. I asked where the person was and he lied and said that she had conveniently left the store (end of shift) after they said it. I called him out and said I want to hear for myself because I have never had this issue before and if this was the case, why is this not stated within the store or on the shelves. He then showed me a pile of tins, milk and packets of food which he said had been taken from other customers because they attempted to bulk buy and they had to take them away from them. Eventually he called the store manager who repeated that I can only have 1 box of 8 max. I asked what is the point because I could easily buy 1 and come back to buy more, he went on to say that I need to put the items back and that if I attempted to come back to purchase more he would tell his staff not to serve me. He then proceeded to grab the milk out of my trolley. I told him to leave it and my aunt who was with me can buy a case separately and they cannot stop that! He then walked away. The whole situation could have been avoided if they simply had signs to tell people that they have a maximum purchase limit in their store and would also save myself and all the other people whose shopping had been confiscated the embarrassment. This was my first and will be my last visit to the Purley Way store.I haven’t had this issue anywhere else before. We go through 8-10 cartons per week between us as a family of 6 and Aldi is out of the way for us so it is convenient to buy what we require. Also customer service have told me that they have had several complaints regarding this same issue yet nothing has been done to rectify it. Ridiculous!!
Visiting the store around mid-day last Sunday we found the main carpark full so we tried to exit and park in the. Carpark next to the main entrance but became blocked in by an Aldi articulated lorry, having sat there a worker appears and instructed the drivers to all reverse back the full length of the store stupidly I complied but wished I hadn't I nearly took out a lady with a trolley who rushed past the rear of our car then nearly hit 2 further cars who were reversing from their parking spaces having finally parked I was angry with the Aldi worker and myself for listening to him .I confronted him as to why customers had to take such a risk reversing back around a one way system ,I commented he couldn't run a p--s up in a brewery but his excuse was to blame other customers parking for making it difficult For the driver to enter .15 minutes later I'm confronted by the employee and unknown to me the manager behind my back the employee had his face in mine demanding an apology which I said wasn't going to happen as the manager pushed him away then grabs my shopping and barrs me from the store, the manager should have diffused the situation but made it worse .Finally I write so others can learn from my mistakes of reversing a one way system I should have ignored him given my 55 years exp as an industrial engine used to writing risk assessment and method statements which Aldi appear to have neither for this hazard at their store. All that is needed is to block certain parking spaces 1hr before a delivery and everything would run smoothly and quickly and Joe public like we myself would not have 3 near misses
Aldi is our nearest supermarket and it is not a pleasant experience for many reasons. The staff are distant and lack patience or empathy. They run out of stock of basic items, sometimes quite early in the day.Their bakery section is pre wrapped long life products. Many being low quality. (No fresh in this branch)The constant opening and closing of tills, with no consideration for customers who have queued reflects their attitude to customer service. The lack of room to pack at the till is deliberate, trying to force people to re-pack in the area away from it.The will try and forcefully place items directly in your trolly if you do not keep up, to try and force you to do the same and get you away from the til area. The layout and displays are generally scruffy and dishevelled. There are always big trollies of goods in the aisles causing blockages and the staff make little effort to help you go past.I could go on.I don't have to go there! Correct but it does not change the issues.I visited Lidl today. A two mile dive through a large town. What a contrast!Quite the opposite on all the above issues.Wider isles. Fully stocked shelves and for me, better quality products at a similar price. Staff were more willing to assist, with a smile. For me Tesco and Sainsburys are the complete package. Stock all the items you may need. Show genuine customer care and will walk with you to find a product you are looking for. Are competitive on prices of most things and the person on the till will generally pause and wait for you if you are falling a bit behind. They are British companies and I feel I should give them my support whenever I can.
Contacted Aldi whilst I was in France about being charged for six bottles of milk instead of bottled water, i explained I was travelling back to UK and they said send copy of product & barcode and receipt and they can refund me, so I did this and then they said take it back to the store as there was nothing they could do, I was then in UK so how can I go back, they will not reply to me now, surely they can issue a refund from anywhere, totally useless customer care, Lidl far better customer service.
