Review Time
I received a letter in the post that I had driven off, on a particular date without paying for petrol. Flabbergasted I replied however found that date I was not in the area. Since then I’ve been given 3 dates I was at the petrol station. Also told I’d driven off then did pay but should have checked I’d paid. Their tactics are the highest form of bullying I’ve experienced. I’ve gone from willing to pay at the earliest to making formal complaint about how this company can treat people when it’s clear they are errors. What’s wrong with the truth.
Received a letter from Forecourteye stating I had not paid for fuel back in July (4th July) which is over four months old so it’s not like you can remember that far back to know if you were even there on that date, when I looked at the pictures which were four very poor quality pictures of my car at the fuel station, could not even make out myself filling the car, no time stamp to tie the image to the picture of the till transaction, the letter was for £24.50 and the £35 admin fee, I spoke to the lady who was no help and it was a case of pay or less, what I can’t understand is I normally fill my car up at the start of the month as I do not cover a lot of miles, that sort of fill up is normally at the end of the month if I’m running low on fuel, I could see that I filled my car up on the 6th July so why would I not fill the car up full on the 4th if I had been there on that day, and thirdly I fill up and pay at the pump , it does not allow you to fill up until payment is authorised so I cannot believe this is correct and must be a mistake by the garage, I paid just to get rid of the issue but as far as I can see the evidence is not evidence. Lesson learnt I will always now take a receipt, but this really is a scam.
They sent me a letter saying I had not paid for £30 petrol, so I had a look in my bank statements for that day and BP had charged me for the items I bought but not the petrol. I emailed them back saying I went in to pay and the cashier didn’t put my petrol through. They replied saying this has nothing do with them and it’s my fault. I waited 4 days for a reply to my email and unbeknownst to me they had risen the price to £90 as I hadn’t paid it straight away. It seems like this is a well put together scam and the petrol stations are probably in on it. Vile company and I hope whoever runs this business gets some serious karma. Scumbags.
My daughter received a letter with a link to a photo saying that she had taken £5.12 of PETROL for her DIESEL car without paying from a Tesco Esso Express petrol station in Hove using a photo (was a genuine error or a premeditated fabrication?) that had been taken a few days before the alleged event when she had filled up with £20.02 of diesel and paid for it. Furthermore, on the day of the alleged event she was over 100 miles away in Cardiff working for her law firm. We disputed the evidence pointing out the obvious flaws and asked to appeal together with provision of their evidence proving the date of the photo so that we could discuss and submit the evidence in more details. The response consisted of letters with a bullying nature flatly denying an error on the part of Forecourt Eye. In the context of private parking firms bullying and escalating fines, we decided to pay the fee plus charges to avoid the anxiety of a growing cost whilst we seek to dispute the charge via multiple channels because we were not convinced we would get a fair hearing in a timely manner whilst they allow costs to mount. Other channels include the police (who have been empathetic in light of many other complaints), the Civil Procedure Rules that addresses the authenticity of evidence, Tesco and Esso. The cost of the fine is small but the significance of the principle is infinite, the victim has to invest in protecting their innocence possibly only recovering the cost of the charge and rarely the cost of the investment in their defence. I am far from a conspiracist but this also raises wider concerns, for example; if they can use data like this now which they have on file, how might they use it again in the future?Update 29/1/24 - after much to and fro, I am pleased to say this has now been resolved and will improve the rating because we feel we have been listened to albeit not without its stresses. Aside from the use of logic in defence, the point about correct use of data was important - the Data Controller (Tesco) and the Data Processor (Forecourteye) must work to the data protection principles under the Data Protection Act 2018 which include the right to access personal data, be informed how data is being used and have incorrect data updated (in this case ensuring the correct time stamp is submitted with the photograph and linked to the correct payment).
Absolutely disgusting company. Accused me of not paying for fuel over 8 months ago. Sent me a receipt which had a date and time different to the date and time the picture was taken. I then found my back statement which showed I had filled up and paid on the date When I spoke to them they were rude and and just kept speaking over me with absolutely no proof. Fraud at its best. More than happy to go to court on this one.
Disgusting company, awful staff. I was fined for "Driving off without paying for fuel" yet the images showed my clearly at the cashiers desk with drinks, with my wallet out paying for them and the fuel. But not Shell, nore the manager at the garage gave a shit, they just wanted to slap me with a £60 fine because I hadn't recieved the letter in the first 14 days due to moving house. Not their proble.
Just a bunch of con artists. My husband went to pay for fuel and a paper. He told the cashier the pump number and paid contactless then got a surprise letter. He checked the bank and they only charged for the paper. He spoke to forecourt eye in the phone and the guy was rude and obnoxious. Not helpful at all. If someone was gunna steal fuel, you'd steal more than £10. The cheek they want £10 and a £35 administration charge. We are happy to pay for the fuel as the clerk has made an error but not an administration charge to fund a bunch of con artists. The government really need to do something about these rouge firms!
Nasty little company, who are employed by the likes of Shell and BP to claim back unpaid fuel expense. Issue is with low level companies like this they are not interested in facts, only in levying increases ‘Penalty’ charges they call admin fees. If you get one of there threatening letters go straight to the fuel company and stick the claim by ForeCourtEye in dispute. Heavens knows people are desperate for jobs, but to work for this nasty little company must really be new low. I suspect they will claim they catch 100’s of would be criminals, but just google who they do go after to see what they are really like.Update: 28th November 2024. I have reported this nasty little company to Trading Standards and Action Fraud. They are an UNREGULATED Business and NOT covered under the FCA so they can operate outside of the law like all Scam Companies! If you get a letter or had a letter call these people and report them: Action Fraud 03001232040, Trading Standards 03444111444 and the Credit Service Association 01912170775. The tactics this nasty little company employ are akin to extortion and they are 100% SCAM Business. I have also written to Shell and BP advising them that THEIR Supplier acting in such an aggressive manner with people.
I returned to Tesco express north of seven dials in Hove after receiving an unjustified fine last October when the teller didn't ring in the petrol with my groceries..despite me quoting the pump and amount £11.79..The private company Forecourt Eyes sign is so Tiny stuck to the pump facing the Tesco express that I couldn't easily read close up with good eyesight.I have photo but there is no attachment to use.Forecourt eye sent threatening letters demanding a large fine and added they would register the fact I didn't pay and would not be able to get petrol in uk until I paid!!! ATTENTIONALWAYS GET RECEIPTS AT PETROL STATIONS TO AVOID GETTING VICTIMISED BY PRIVATE CAR PARKING COMPANIES . This mistake by Tesco was acknowledged by manager who compensated me but admitted that he failed to reason with Forecourt Eye who dismissed his explanation againThis same company have taken control of a 20 minute parking bays at Tesco Expresswhich sets people up to fail as Signage is not good and time is inadequate for people getting petrol groceries and then perhaps facing queues to pay.SIGNAGE APPEARS TO BE POOR WITH SMALL PRINT WITH PRIVATE COMPANIES...THE TESCO EXPRESS UP FROM SEVEN DIALS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE AS IT IS UNNOTICABLE AND SETS PEOPLE UP TO FAIL IF THEIR PETROL WAS NOT RUNG IN.NATIONALLY SIGNAGE FOR ANY PRIVATE CAR PARKING COMPANY SHOULD BE CLEAR LARGE PRINT LIKE THE COUNCIL CAR PARK SIGNAGE.ALLEGEDLY THESE COMPANIES DONT GO TO COURT AS THEIR THREATING LETTERS SUGGEST AND IS SAID HAVE NO LEGAL STANDING...MANY PEOPLE SAY THEY IGNORE THE INTIMIDATING LETTERS WHICH ARE USED AS A FEAR FACTOR TO COERCE PEOLE INTO PAYING THEY FINES WHICH THEY DOUBLE AND TRIPLE ....WITH THREATENING LETTERS.THIS NATIONAL ISSUE NEEDS ADDRESSING ...WITH FAIR CLEAR LARGE PRINT SIGNS SO PEOPLE ARE AWARE THEIR REMIT. MOTORISTS NEED RESPECT.My case was an example of teller mistake for £11.79p and FORECOURT EYE I FEEL TREATED ME LIKE A CRIMINAL
